Engagement rings, wedding bands or more creative designs: the Maison explores different styles of diamond rings to help you find the one that's right for you.
Why is diamond considered the queen of gemstones?
The word diamond comes from the ancient Greek "adamas", meaning: unalterable, unbreakable, pure.
Etymology speaks truth, since diamond is the hardest gemstone in the world (10/10 on the Mohs scale)! This means that it cannot be scratched, except by another diamond. Diamond is also the crystal with the highest refractive index, and therefore possesses incomparable brilliance.
These exceptional properties explain why diamonds are particularly popular as engagement rings or to celebrate life's milestones.
How to choose a diamond ring for women
Diamond quality
While the jewel's style and aesthetics are of course paramount, diamonds have the distinction of possessing several qualities that it's good to know about in order to make an informed choice.
Perhaps you've heard of the "4 C" of diamonds? This universal method groups together the 4 criteria used to assess a diamond's quality and value: carat, cut, color and clarity.
The carat corresponds to the weight of the stone (1 carat = 0.20 grams).
The “color” criterion evaluates the diamond's color on a scale from D to Z, with D corresponding to the purest white. We only select diamonds with a minimum quality of H (neutral white). For superior quality, we also offer G and D grades.
The “cut” refers to the size of the diamond, i.e. its faceting. This criterion has a crucial impact on the way the diamond reflects light. The Very Good and Excellent cuts we offer are the guarantee of a truly sparkling diamond.
The final C “clarity” refers to the diamond's degree of purity. All our diamonds are SI ("slightly included": inclusions only visible with a x10 loupe), VS ("very slightly included": inclusions hardly visible with a x10 loupe) or IF ("internally flawless": no inclusions visible with a x10 loupe).
You can now decipher the acronyms HSI and GVS, which are the two main qualities offered on our website. Should you require a higher quality (DIF, for example), please do not hesitate to contact our team at hello@gemmyo.com.
All Gemmyo diamonds over 0.3 carats come with a GIA or HRD certificate.

The different types of diamond ring
A symbol of eternity, thesolitaire is a jewelry classic. Within our collections, the emblematic Lady stands alongside models with a touch of originality, such as the Baby EverBloom and Lady Duo three-stones solitaires, or the halo solitaires of the Rétromantique collection. With its double halo of diamonds surrounding the center stone, the Lefkos ring combines brilliance with a touch of audacity.
If you're looking for a solitaire with an original stone cut, the Lady Ovale ring is a wonderful choice, as are the variations of the Rétromantique model with an oval, pear or cushion center stone.
To enhance the sparkle of your jewel, you can opt for a pavé ring : most of our models are available with or without pavé diamonds on the band.
Of course, the solitaire is not the only option when it comes to choosing a diamond ring. If you're looking for a diamond wedding band for women, for example, discover our complete selection.
To celebrate a birthday, an achievement or a moment in time, our iconic Paris 1901 and MET collections feature rings with creative designs. More daring, our RétroMilano and PrimaRosa collections also feature diamonds.
To reinforce the symbolic dimension of your jewel, don't forget that most of our rings can be engraved with the inscription of your choice.
Which diamond size for a ring?
In the case of a solitaire, you're probably wondering which center stone size to select.
This choice depends of course on your budget (the price of diamonds being exponential) but also on your personal tastes as well as the finger size of the person receiving the jewel.
To suit all tastes and finger sizes, we offer most of our models with different center stone sizes. For example, the Baby EverBloom model is available with a 0,25 ct, 0,4 ct, 0,5 ct or 0,8 ct diamond.
To be sure of choosing the right size, the best thing to do is to visit us in-store : there's nothing like seeing the proportions of the stones in real life.
This will also enable you to compare our different diamond qualities (HSI, GVS, DIF) and even, if you wish, to choose the exact diamond that will adorn your ring. To do this, please specify on the appointment form what type of diamonds you would like to see (size, quality, etc.), to make sure they are available on the day of your appointment.
Finally, this appointment will be an opportunity to measure your finger size or pick up our free ring sizer - which we can also send to the address of your choice.
Which metal to pair diamonds with?
The crystalline white of diamonds has the advantage of pairing perfectly with all precious metals.
Yellow gold, white gold or platinum are classic choices that are a sure bet.
Rose gold, emblematic of the Maison, is also a beautiful option. Very soft, it suits all skin tones.
